Sow the Seed is three beautifully immersive days designed to introduce you to the principles of floral design — not simply how to make an arrangement, but how to really begin working with flowers.
Set within our new home at Underley Estate, you’ll step away from everyday life and into three days of flowers, creativity and learning. Working with an abundance of seasonal, ingredients, you’ll discover how to choose, condition and understand your materials; explore colour, shape, proportion and movement; and begin developing the practical skills that give you the confidence to create for yourself.
There will, of course, be plenty of hands-on designing. But Sow the Seed is about more than following a recipe or recreating something I have made.
I want you to understand why a design works.
Through demonstrations, practical projects, conversation and individual guidance, I’ll teach you the foundations that sit behind beautiful floral design and encourage you to trust your own eye as you begin to discover what you like — and what might eventually become your own creative style.
No experience necessary. Curiosity very welcome.
You might be considering a future working with flowers. You might already be the person everyone asks to arrange the flowers. Or perhaps you simply want to spend three days doing something wonderfully creative for yourself.
You don’t need any previous experience.
Sow the Seed has been created as a genuine starting point: small enough to feel personal, relaxed enough to ask every question and comprehensive enough to leave you with skills you can continue using long after the three days are over.
More than a floristry course
Learning at Tallulah Rose has never been about ticking designs off a list. It’s about learning to look.
To notice the bend in a stem. To understand why one colour makes another sing. To know when a design needs something more — and when it needs you to stop.
It’s also about confidence.
Over three days you’ll be encouraged to experiment, make decisions and find your own way of doing things, with guidance whenever you need it. There is no pressure to make everything look the same. In fact, we’d rather it didn’t.
Expect beautiful flowers, generous teaching, conversation around the table, plenty of encouragement and time to become completely absorbed in the process.
You’ll leave with your designs, new skills and knowledge — but more importantly, with the confidence to keep creating.
You never quite know what might grow once you sow the seed.

Flower conditioning and care
The Hand-Tied Bouquet
Learn the technique of a beautifully gathered bouquet. Working with colour, movement and seasonality to create something entirely your own.
The Statement Vase
Explore scale, proportion and shape as you create a generous expressive design in a statement vase.
The Gathered Table
Working together we’ll transform the table with flowers and styled details – before sitting down for lunch to enjoy what we created.
The Botanical Wreath
Discover a more contemporary approach to wreath making, using seasonal flowers and foliage to create an abundant and beautifully individual design.
The Final Flourish
Bringing together everything we’ve learned we’ll work as a team to create a large-scale installation – perhaps a doorway, fireplace or a suspended design – exploring scale, sustainable mechanics and the confidence to take flowers beyond the vase!

Each day commences at 10.00am and will finish at approximately 4.30pm.
